a person shot without shooting

how can you show a person shot without showing the gun firing or the bullet going into the person, but you do have sound...obviously.
in desperado, why did Antonio not care about his two mariachi friends getting killed but he cared about the little kid he did not know.

Lol. To do the shooting thing, just get the actor/actress to jolt backwards and then add the sounds in afterwards. Sometimes it might be good to see the person from behind when they get shot.

Funnily enough, a bullet will generally go straight through you. The only jolt would be the shock of realisation!

(yeah yeah, I know, dramatic license ... but SOMETIMES the truth is far more DISTURBING!!)

Thats true.
But I think the Desperado style - being thrown back 20 feet - is far less shocking than having the actor fall in the right way. I nice blood splat on the wall behind is always good.
